As an executive seeking your first public company board seat, building a foundational understanding of oversight responsibilities and challenges U.S. public company directors face is critical in developing immediate trust with stakeholders and adding value in the boardroom from day one. This program will arm you with the knowledge you need to be effective and help connect you to the board community, increasing your exposure and signaling your dedication to making an impact in the boardroom.

Upon program completion you will receive the Director Qualified credential from the American College of Corporate Directors and be added to various recruitment databases, including:

  • ACCD Director Database, a searchable database of credential holders which features customizable profiles designed to showcase relevant fields for board recruitment
  • Nasdaq database for IPOs and other public companies seeking new, diverse, qualified directors
  • the Boardlist, a premium talent marketplace that connects public and private companies with exceptional, diverse board and executive talent

Program graduates will also be featured on the ACCD website as a credential holder and included in Corporate Board Member magazine’s quarterly feature of credential holders.

The Director Fundamentals Program is not just a single test, it provides learning through a variety of mediums including video lessons, training courses and live events designed to build a foundation of knowledge that truly prepares participants for what it means to be a public company director.

Participants are also provided with support and tools to market themselves and increase exposure to board opportunities after completing the program.

Yes, program participants will receive the Director Qualified credential from the American College of Corporate Directors after meeting the requirements to complete the program, including:

  • Attending one Director Fundamentals Workshop
  • Attending one Ask-the-Veteran-Director Roundtable
  • Completing each program module and submitting certificates and other module requirements as requested

The program is designed to be completed in 3 months. To meet the completion requirements, we can accommodate attendance at program events outside of the 3-month period on a case by case basis.

Yes, all credential holders are invited to ACCD events, including monthly webinars and an annual conference. Participants will also be added to ACCD and Corporate Board Member newsletters which provide corporate governance news and updates about ongoing opportunities with our organization.

Participants will also be added to the digital distribution of Corporate Board Member Magazinethe trusted resource by and for directors and senior executives of publicly traded companies.
