Corporate Board Member

About Us

1998

Corporate Board Member was founded in 1998 as part of Board Member Inc., alongside Bank Director magazine. From the start, the focus was clear—serve public company directors as governance became more complex and board expectations continued to rise.

2004

Corporate Board Member hosted its first Boardroom Summit in New York. At the time, there were few forums designed exclusively for directors. The Summit helped establish a new standard—off-the-record, peer-level discussion among public company board members dealing with real governance challenges.

2010

Corporate Board Member was acquired by the New York Stock Exchange and operated as NYSE Governance Services until 2017. During this period, Corporate Board Member expanded its reach and deepened its role within the public company governance community.

2017

Corporate Board Member was spun out and acquired by Chief Executive Group. Since then, it has continued to evolve as a trusted, independent resource for public company directors—through research, events, peer exchanges, editorial programming and a membership network that aligns with CEG’s mission to serve C-Suite executives through its other peer groups for Chief Executives and CFOs.

Today

Corporate Board Member exists to support the evolving responsibilities of public company directors—providing practical insight, peer connection and trusted guidance as governance expectations continue to rise. We reach 99% of directors on Nasdaq- and NYSE-listed company boards, representing 28,100 corporate directors, 4,300 CEOs and 2,600 corporate secretaries and general counsel.
