PROFESSIONAL DIRECTOR CREDENTIALING

Since 2008, the American College of Corporate Directors credentials have represented the “gold standard” in corporate director education, and those executives who earn them are highly valued in the board community. To earn American College of Corporate Directors Professional Director status, an individual must accumulate a set number of credits earned by attendance at certain ACCD and Corporate Board Member programs and events.

CREDENTIAL LEVELS AND REQUIREMENTS, EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2023

DIRECTOR QUALIFIED

Executives not currently serving on a company board (and without any previous public company board experience)

Requirements:

Complete Director Fundamentals Program, including 3-month, self-paced online coursework and a 3-hour virtual fundamentals workshop

Renewal: 

  • Credential fee included in $2,495 Director Fundamentals Program cost
  • Credential expires after 2 years
  • For executives not yet on a board at that time, you may renew your Director Qualified credential annually by completing 10 hours of continuing education via Corporate Board Member online programs
  • The renewal fee is $500 per year

PROFESSIONAL DIRECTOR - PRIVATE COMPANY

For executives who currently serve on a privately held company board

Requirements:

Achieve 15 credits, of which:

  • Minimum of 10 credits earned at in-person event (Directors Forum), and
  • 5 additional credits can be earned at CBM virtual live or on-demand programs, including Ask the Expert Board Briefings, online training modules, and virtual roundtables (see list)
  • Credential Fee: $1,500

PROFESSIONAL DIRECTOR - PUBLIC COMPANY

For executives who currently serve on a publicly traded board, or have served on a public company board within the past 5 years

Requirements:

Achieve 15 credits, of which:

  • Minimum of 10 credits earned at in-person event (Directors Forum or Boardroom Summit), and
  • 5 additional Credits can be earned at CBM virtual live or on-demand programs, including Ask the Expert Board Briefings, online training modules, and virtual roundtables (see list)
  • Credential Fee: $1,500

MASTERS PROFESSIONAL DIRECTOR - PRIVATE COMPANY

For executives that have held a Professional Director-Private Company credential for one year – requirements must be achieved annually to maintain credential status

Requirements:

Achieve 10 credits annually, of which:

  • 10 credits earned at in-person events (Directors Forum), or
  • 10 credits earned at virtual live or on-demand programs, including Ask the Expert Board Briefings, online training modules, and virtual roundtables (see list)
  • Annual Credential Fee: $500*

MASTERS PROFESSIONAL DIRECTOR - PUBLIC COMPANY

For executives that have held a Professional Director – Public Company credential for one year – requirements must be achieved annually to maintain credential status

Requirements:

Achieve 10 credits annually, of which:

  • 10 credits earned at in-person events (Directors Forum and/or Boardroom Summit), or
  • 10 credits earned at virtual live or on-demand programs, including Ask the Expert Board Briefings, online training modules, and virtual roundtables (see list)
  • Annual Credential Fee: $500*
